We drove down to santa cruz yesterday to visit jonathan gerrard, who had made the trip up to visit santa cruz too. We had a good time, just hanging out, exploring santa cruz. He showed us UC santa cruz campus which was really neat. It's like a summer camp, but its school. It's right in the middle of a forest, and there is redwoods all around. You literally HIKE to your class. I had to remind myself several times that i was on a campus and not camping. Santa Cruz wasn't exactly what i expected. I had stopped by once before on a road trip, but didn't remember too much about it. It's definitely a unique place with a unique vibe. It feels to me like a beach city mixed with a small mountain town.
Sorry, no pictures.

Mondays Suck
This entry is dedicated soley to complaining about how long our mondays are. Scratch that, that's boring. We actually had a fun weekend with Cassie who came down from portland. We went over to Adrian's house on saturday and hung out there. His place is really new and cool. We had a belated semi-celebration for angela's birthday. It involved a lot of cake. One of adrian's roommates made a cake and i bought a little cheap cake from safeway. We ate the homemade cake and didn't get around to the one i bought. As we were leaving with the cake to bring home, we decided to try a little bit with our fingers. Kids will be kids, and it turned into a mini food fight. I have pictures that i will post, but i haven't uploaded them on my computer yet. I'll post later this week that way i have something to actually post.
Anyways, afterwards we realized we have nothing to whipe or wash off the cake with, so we had to walk home with cake all over ourselves. Needless to say, we got a bunch of funny looks.
Getting on the bus late at night is comical because its kinda like an after-party. Everyone has come from different parties or different bars, intoxicated with loose lips. Lots of random/funny conversations to overhear or partake in.

MODEL
Today was my first day at the MODEL internship. It was very rewarding. Basically what i do is i go to the school and help run in after school program. The problem is, there are 2 of us, and 55 kids. ELizabeth, the one who hired me and works with me, has been struggling to handle all the kids and was in great relief when i arrived. It felt good to be wanted and appreciated.
I got through the day without problems, and felt very good at the end of the day. It's weird how a simple internship can make your day and make you feel like a productive person. I feel like i belong. I feel part of a community.

Manic Monday
Monday's are pretty brutal for us. We are at school from 8am - 6pm. It's long. It's rough. I come home exhausted. Don't feel like doing anything. Luckily we can sleep in tomorrow. That's it for now, i'm spent.

Curb
I have no real important news, so i will just say that i can't wait for the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Unfortunately i don't have HBO, so i don't know how i will watch it, but have no fear, i will find a way.

Giants game!
Th views of the bay are actually from the back of the stadium. It was really pretty. Then we have a view of the ballpark from where we were sitting. The giants lost 4-3, but we had a good time anyway.
I got an internship mentoring at an elementary/middle school two days a week. I start next Wednesday. I'll update how it goes.

Another Table
Look what we found outside the other night! Another gem. It fits perfectly above the old, no longer working, heater.
Still no school today, it's a mandatory furlough day. I have an interview for an internship for being a mentor at an elementary/middle school. Hopefully it goes well.
The noise from the work on our building is loud as ever this morning.
Oh, and this a picture of the unfinished nutella ice cream sandwich cake that angela made me for my birthday.

Matt and co.
Matt, Kaitlin, and Christian came to town this weekend. We were up late, and then up early. Lots of fun. Mostly just hanging out, exploring the city a little bit, and lots of laughing. Alex Barker joined along for most of the fun too. We ate so good. Angela and i love it when people come visit, because it is an excuse to eat out. Otherwise, we try to save money and eat all our meals at home.
I had been wanting to eat at this place called Auntie April's, that was known for their Chicken and waffles, along with other soul food. The bus ride there was a little bit of a journey, but oh so worth it. The food was greasy and delicious. The people that worked there were so friendly. So much hospitality. It was also pretty cheap! Later that day we had spectacular thai food.
Our little place survived its largest occupancy yet without any problems. Good times. Thanks Matt, Kaitlin, Christian, and Alex.

labor day weekend
This weekend is a 5 day weekend for me. It's actually a 6 day weekend because i don't have class on thursdays. But friday is a mandatory shut down of campus due to furlough, monday is labor day, and tuesday is also a furlough day.
Matt, Kaitlin, and Christian are headed up tonight and will stay through sunday. Don't have anything planned, but i'm sure will figure things out.
Recently, we've been missing our bus transfer to school, but its okay because we leave early enough to where we can wait for the next one and we aren't late. I'm going to go to a internship "informal" conference today, just to check them out, and keep my options open. Hopefully this labor day weekend is greeted with pleasant weather.
I watched part of the SFSU soccer match on tuesday and it was very entertaining. It made me wish i kept going with soccer. i believe we won, when i left the score was 3-0.
That's all for now.
